Waxing FAQ’s

  • Yes, but the pain goes away in seconds and every person’s pain tolerance is different. It gets much easier after the first time. If you are extra sensitive or about to get your period, please consider taking ibuprofen 45 minutes to an hour prior to your appointment.

  • It differs with people depending on how fast their hair grows. On average, waxing will last between 3-6 weeks depending on the area waxed. Remember the more you wax, the longer it will last!

  • The state of Texas requires a license to wax. All of our skin care specialists are licensed in the State of Texas to help ensure that our clients experience the highest level of service possible.

  • At Beautique, all our equipment is sterilized by a hospital grade EPA and a barbacide. To ensure the highest standards of hygiene, our waxing sticks are dipped into sterile wax, applied to the client once, and then discarded.

  • Because waxing will make your skin feel soft and it lasts much longer than any other temporary method. People also wax because they feel it is more hygienic and that their hair grows back finer and sparse over time.

  • If you are taking Rx Accutane, Differin, Retin A, Antibiotics, or any medication that may cause sun sensitivity. You should also avoid waxing while using salicylic acid, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, any harsh exfoliants, or any facial peels. All these products thin out your skin and will make you more sensitive and likely to burn or peel. Please wait 2-6 weeks depending on how long you have been on the medication before you wax, as we want to make sure the medications are out of your system. If you are not sure of how you may react from any other prescriptions you are taking, please contact your physician.

  • You can still get waxed and it is very common for moms-to-be to get a brazilian or bikini wax before giving birth.

  • At least 1/4 inch or 2-4 weeks of growth, whichever is longer. The longer your hair is, the better results you will get and the longer it will last.
